Regionalising Southeast Asian Art: Scholarship, Exhibition, and Hybrid Digital Platform

Description of Workshop Session II

Regionalising Southeast Asian Art brings together panelists with diverse backgrounds in art history, art practice, curating, programming, and experience in using digital-analog platforms for exhibitions:

* We will first explore early discussion on regional Southeast Asia aesthetics in the context of ASEAN, and examine Singapore art history within the Southeast Asian regionalism context.

* This will be followed by a discussion about a Southeast Asia-focused museum initiative: the Trans-Southeast Asia Art Triennale, organised by the Guangzhou Academy of Art.

* Finally, we will look into the mechanics of staging a hybrid exhibition — integrating web stories, social media, a printed catalogue, and a physical showcase.

Additionally, we will consider Asia as a larger context for the dissemination of art.
